Oral (short slide) Presentation guidelines

Oral presentations (except plenary and keynote) have a 15 minutes slot – please prepare a PowerPoint presentation that lasts for up to 10-12 minutes MAXIMUM to allow 3-5 minutes for discussion after your talk.  This equates to roughly 10 slides excluding your title and acknowledgement slides. 
Please make sure you finish your talk with in 12 minutes - it is a good idea to rehearse it beforehand to check your timings- to allow plenty of time for discussion from the audience.  We will give you a warning at 11 minutes so you have a minute to wrap up.  We will be very strict about timing and will stop you when your 12 minutes is up even if you have not finished. Poster Presentation guidelines

Maximum size of a poster: 140 cm vertical (Height) x 90 cm horizontal (Width).

Please make sure to check the session assingnment location and also the submission ID# to find the correct boards for your poster presentation. Also, please remember that you are expected to be by your poster on August 6th to 8th for one hour after lunch during the poster presentation (attended) period. Please see detaild schedule on the final program. The title and authors must appear at the top of the poster. We also recommend including the submission ID# at the left top corner of your poster. We recommend the use of a font size legible from a distance of 2 meters.

Abstract Submission:

Abstracts must be submitted through the Congress On-Line Abstract Management System. Abstracts that are received in any other way (fax, email, etc.) will not be considered. Online site can be accessed at:

Abstracts must be submitted in English.  Based on submitted material, the committee will accept abstracts and assign them to be presented either orally or as a poster.

Abstract Guidelines:

The abstracts may be research, clinical, policy or capacity building program-focused. The abstract must describe work that is evidence-based, and the work should not be in the early implementation or brainstorming stage. Abstracts should contain original materials; inclusion of tables, charts and other graphics is not recommended in the abstract. The preferred abstract format will include a short introduction, a methods section, results, and a discussion/conclusion.

  1. Abstracts should be no longer than 500 words, in Arial font, size 12. All abstracts must be submitted in English.
  2. Please structure your abstract using the following headings:
    • Objectives
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusions
  3. When you submit your abstract, please indicate your preference of one of the thematic areas for the abstract.
    • Operationalizing One Health and impact on development
    • Vector-borne Zoonoses, Environment and Role of Wildlife
    • Antimicrobial Resistance, alternatives and new antimicrobial agents
    • Food-borne and Water-borne Zoonoses
    • Genomics and Pathogen Detection Systems
    • Immunology and Vaccine Development
  4. At submission, indicate your preferred method of presentation:
    • Oral Presentation
    • Poster Presentation
    • No Preference
  5. Please note that papers can only receive final acceptance if at least one author has registered for participation at the congress.

Notification to Authors:
Abstracts are subject to review by more than one member of the Scientific Program Committee for inclusion in the program and for oral/poster presentation. The corresponding authors will be informed of the decision by the ICOPHAI 2015 Scientific Program Committee via e-mail communication (therefore it is essential to provide your correct e-mail address). The decision will be posted in the website as well. Full instructions for oral and poster presentations will be provided in the website.

Abstract files:
All accepted abstracts will be included in an abstract book, which will be in the website and given to all registered participants as a hard copy and CD.
